Maltix Service Update: Operational Resilience
All Maltix technology remains unaffected
Date: 21–22 October 2026
Status: All Systems Operational & Fully Resilient
Recent widespread disruptions across major external cloud networks highlight the fragility of single-point infrastructure. When central platforms stumble, thousands of businesses feel the impact immediately. We recognise the frustration this creates and hear the concerns across our community.
We are pleased to confirm that throughout these events, all Maltix websites, client portals, and hosted services have remained completely unaffected. No action is required on your part.
- Continuous Uptime: All Maltix platforms, regional APIs, and delivery networks are running smoothly, securely, and without performance loss.
- Proactive Protection: Our infrastructure operates under round-the-clock monitoring and robust safeguards to isolate your operations from external cloud failures.
- Data & Access Integrity: Customer access, workflows, and synchronisations remain fully protected and intact.
You do not need to navigate digital uncertainty alone. We stand firmly alongside our partners to ensure your systems stay connected, secure, and moving forward.
For any individual questions or checks, please contact the Maltix support team.
Today’s major disruption stems from a severe Google Cloud outage centred on European infrastructure—primarily the europe-west2 region (London)—following a power and network event at underlying data centre facilities. Because so much modern web architecture and enterprise tooling relies on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), the failure has triggered widespread secondary crashes across consumer apps, digital banking, and business workflows.
Core Infrastructure Failures
- Power Event & Emergency Shutdowns: A data centre utility power disruption caused protective breakers to trip. To protect physical storage hardware and data integrity, automated safety protocols proactively shut down high-density compute nodes, storage volumes, and virtualised clusters.
- Core GCP Database & Compute Collapse: Essential backend services—including Cloud Firestore, Cloud Spanner, Google Compute Engine (GCE), BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and App Engine—began dropping connections or throwing continuous 500/503 errors.
- Inter-Region Routing Saturation: As automated failover mechanisms attempted to divert massive traffic away from the degraded zone, secondary routing paths suffered congestion, causing cascading latency and intermittent packet drops outside the immediate regional zone.
- Banking and FinTech Disruptions: Numerous UK and European mobile banking applications, payment processors, and checkout gateways experienced authentication failures, timed-out API calls, and incomplete transaction processing.
- Third-Party Websites & Platforms: Consumer-facing services, retail sites, and delivery apps hosted wholly or partially on GCP became completely inaccessible or fell back to static maintenance error pages.
- Enterprise Stoppages: Organisations relying on GCP for data warehousing and business analytics reported failed extract-transform-load (ETL) pipelines, broken reporting dashboards (such as Looker), and blocked continuous deployment pipelines.
